My Story

At Amber's Vibes : for Hair & Mind my goal is to help you look and feel your best from the inside out.

Tree Texture

My Mission

I am passionate about helping people feel seen, heard, and not alone. My skills allow me to give back to others by helping them feel confident about the person they see in the mirror.

My Craft

I am always learning about the hair industry, while focusing on personal growth. I specialize in sassy short hair cuts, encouraging women to love their natural color and texture, and giving confidence to those with fine/thinning hair. My physical services focus on hair, but my total experience is focused on the overall health of the individual.

Amber's Vibes

What is Amber's Vibes : for Hair & Mind?

When I was searching for a name for my business that showcased me and the services I offer, I kept coming back to the meaning of my name (Amber) and my belief of putting "good vibes" into the Universe. While the physical service I provide is for hair, I also focus on mental health, too, the mind.

Amber is fossilized tree sap.

Trees are metaphorical for a lot of things, but typically a symbol of being grounded with roots, and reaching for the sky to grow (in every direction).

Humans are a lot like trees.

As we live we release "sap" - our "fossil", our legacy, our energy.

Vibes is energy, and creates feelings.

My Vibes are positive, and promoting healing and growth.

Amber: Rooted, Growing, Legacy, Solid

Vibes: Focused Energy

My services are for your hair, but I want to treat your mind, too.

AMBER RICHESON - AMBER'S VIBES FOR HAIR AND MIND

I can help you with your desire for a sassy short cut that feels versatile with your needs and moods, because let's be honest, no one wants the *same hair* every day for the rest of forever. There is something special about helping women welcome and embrace their natural color - one way to do this is with grey-blending coloring instead of covering it up and hiding it from the world. I am passionate about helping women with fine and thinning hair. Having a healthy scalp and *happy* hair is of the greatest importance to me - and usually means that I get to pamper you with a customized treatment to help your scalp and hair look and feel its best. I value your energy, and want to create a space where you can recharge and feel seen.

I understand being a busy mom, and always having some place to be (even if that place is your couch as a way to unwind from all the energy moving around in your world). I have an "untraditional" blended family of "his, mine, and ours". Ryan Jr (Ry) is 24 and serving in the United States Space Force, and is currently stationed in the mountains (where my soul is meant to be); Alex is 18 and is pursuing his dream of being a stuntman in film; Jeromy is 18 and will graduate from Ottawa High School in 2024; Abbi is 15 and is excited to be a freshman at Spring Hill High School; and then we have our Rainbow Baby, Amry who is 5. So, yes, I understand busy, but also understand the pride of raising tiny humans into successful adults.

While we all wear many "hats" of responsibility, my goal is to focus on you and your needs during our time together. It's easy to lose ourselves in the mist of all our responsibilities to other people, while you're with me I want you to feel confident in all that you are. I love to pamper others, and help the weight of the world melt away. Talking about mental health is very important to me. I'm fortunate that my battles with depressions mental illness ended with ways to give me more clarity and understanding about mental health and the value of feeling seen and heard. I want you to feel seen and heard, because you are not alone on this journey of life.

While there's many talented hair professionals in the area, one of the things that makes me different as a Sassy Short Hair Specialist is that I also wear short hair, and have for years. When I first started in the industry I was admittedly horrible at feminine short hair cuts as I had extensive training with barbering, so all my cuts looked masculine. When I started wearing my hair shorter, I started to find all the little details that made for a quality and sassy short haircut. I've also become highly trained with using a razor and being educated on versatile ways to use this important hair cutting tool. I average about 5 hours a month with continuing education on cutting, styling, and product knowledge (did you know that the state of Kansas does not require continuing education?).

When I'm not working, you'll find me in an audience supporting my kids. I love attending community events, as I love Spring Hill and the people that make up part of my "village" (because it really does "take a village"). I'm a dreamer at heart and will "get away" whenever I can - the mountains are my favorite, and give me peace. If you don't see me out, then I'm sitting on my couch relaxing at home trying to catch some quiet time (I'm an introvert, so I need time to recharge).

When you're ready for a hair appointment that isn't rushed and allows you to slow down, I'm ready to pamper you.
